Ewell Cricket Club News...
The Club’s ClubMark Accreditation has been re-awarded for another 3 years. Well done to Frank Ford for many hours of effort to push this through.
Congratulations to Bahzad Mahmood and the Saturday 2nd XI who have won Division 4 of the Surrey Championship
Cricket at Ruxley Lane is now under way - and finally the sun has arrived at Ruxley Lane, so please come to the ground, support your clubmates, have a pic-nic and enjoy a drink in the sunshine!
Please keep an eye on the Matches page on the website, for details of forthcoming fixtures. Please speak to the captains to confirm availability or email to email@example.com
It is with sadness that we have to report that John Stow, one of our Vice Presidents, passed away on 7th March, aged 89.
John joined Wimbledon Park Athletic Club (see the History page for relationship with Ewell CC) in the early 1950’s. He continued to play for the club until 1993. In his last season he played in 5 matches, bowling 20 overs for only 57 runs and taking 4 wickets. His best performance that year was 2 for 7; not bad for someone at 65.
In the years after he stopped playing, he would regularly visit the Saturday league games, to watch some of the game and chat to the players; this was whether the game was at home or away. We last saw John last summer when his son, Paul, brought him down to the Chairman’s day.
Our sympathies go to Paul, Ian (Animal) and Jane.
Thanks and appreciation go to new sponsors for Ewell CC for 2018 - Buildbase Chessington and Reads Property Consultancy.
Despite it being close season now, the club is still operating and it's a very busy period, preparing for the 2018 season.
We have an exclusive arrangement with Ewell Castle School to use their cricket nets every Tuesday evening - with both Juniors and Senior embers having sessions. Please email if you wish to take part.
The Committee meet regularly and there are exciting plans for next season.
